2015 Memorial Day Ceremony – La Jolla, CA

The Trustees of the Mt. Soledad Memorial Association invite you to attend a Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, May 25, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm to witness a special plaque presentation honoring 1st Lt. Nathan M. Krissoff of the United States Marine Corps who was mortally wounded in combat while serving our country in Iraq.

In 2006, 1st Lt. Nathan M. Krissoff was assigned to 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion and deployed as the battalion’s counterintelligence specialist in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In honor of his ultimate sacrifice, his personal decorations include the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Navy and Marine Commendation Medal with the Combat Distinguishing Device for Valor.

To honor his son, Nathan’s father, Dr. William Krissoff, joined the Navy Medical Corps at age 61 to serve as a surgeon in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Major General Lawrence Nicholson Commanding General of 1st Marine Division in the United States Marine Corps will be the keynote speaker for this event. Major General Nicholson holds a Master’s of Science Degree from the US Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
